Mr. Bekele Gemeda WASHED ETHIOPIA

A washed process, single producer Lot from Ethiopia! All Sam’s coffee wishes have come true! you may wonder why this is a big deal to us here at Barrio. Well, because of the way that coffee is produced and processed and regulated and shipped in Ethiopia it has historically been a very tricky country to identify coffee back to a single producer. Coffee growers generally grow very small amounts on small plots of land and contribute their coffee to the local washing station along with hundreds if not thousands of others. The washing station which then processes the coffee is normally as far as we can go to identify the origin of a coffee. 

Thanks to the decade long hard work of Cafe Imports, who work and negotiate directly with farmers on prices and contracts, the ‘Single Farmer Project has made this a reality. 

Mr Bekele Gemeda lives in Worka Village with 6.5 hectares of coffee land. He works the farm full time along with several of his 11 children. He put in a lot of care into producing this coffee which showed well enough in the cup to be sold as a seperate Lot.
